HUD Seminar Instructions

PDF | Print | E-mail

Thank you for registering for the Free FHA Continuing Education Seminar that will be held on Monday, December 27th, starting at 8:30am in the Federal Building. I will open the 9th floor conference room 30 minutes prior to the course start time.  Please note you cannot enter the Federal Building prior to 8:00 am as security does not allow the general public in the building until this time.  I strongly advice you to get here between 8:00 am – 8:20 am to ensure you get up to the 9th floor conference room on time.  Our building is currently undergoing renovation, therefore a limited number of elevators are available.  Entrance to Federal Building is from Farish Street only.

Please BE ON TIME.  The following information should aid you to ensure your visit is a timely and successful one.  If you have additional questions, please feel free to call me:  Andy Blake ph. 601-608-1803.

PLEASE READ AND BRING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WITH YOU:

Entering Federal Building/Security Checkpoint:

Please note individual cameras ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE FEDERAL BUILDING. However, camera phones are okay.  As you enter the lobby, you must enter on the left hand side of the security checkpoint and go through the metal detector.  Purses/handbags, etc., will go on the conveyor belt for x-ray.  This process is usually very organized and should not take long, however, play it safe and allow yourself 5-10 minutes of extra time to get here. IMPORTANT: The following items are also prohibited in the building……pepper spray, knives, guns and once again, individual cameras.

PARKING: Is available at the Central Parking Garage (adjacent to east side of federal bldg.) at 110 East Capitol Street. Parking costs are $1 for each half hour with a maximum charge of $12.  Based on the amount of time you will be here, I anticipate the cost for most of you will be  $10-$12.  You can enter the Seven Story garage from both Capitol Streets and Amite Streets.

LOCATION: Jackson, MS HUD Field Office, Dr. A. H. McCoy Federal Building, 100 West Capitol Street, Downtown Jackson. The seminar will be held on the 9th floor conference room.  After entering through security, you will find the elevators around the corner to your left.  There will be signage once you step off elevator on the 9th floor.

BREAKS/FOOD/SNACK/DRINKS/LUNCH: I will offer adequate break times to ensure that everyone stays fresh and interested.  A cafeteria is located on the 2nd floor that has snacks, drinks, sandwiches and a plate lunch. On 12th floor, there are drink/snack vending machines. You may bring your refreshments back to the room to ensure you get back on time.  Please note the government cannot provide you with food and drink but the above info should be adequate to satisfy your munchies.

ADMISSION POLICY/CANCELLATION: If for whatever reason you are unable to attend on the day you have registered for, please let me know no later than December 23rd so I can assign your seat to someone else, as I have people waiting in the wings for a chance to come. I have limited this class to 40 seats and the class is already full. If  an unregistered person chooses to  show up on the day of event, please note that I cannot guarantee you a seat and that you might be turned away.  Priority will be given to those who have pre-registered. I have established a waiting list in case there are cancellations prior to seminar.  Your best chance for getting in is to request to be placed on the waiting list. I will give priority to the waiting list in the order that I received the request.

MISCELLANEOUS: Come prepared to have a good time and a valuable learning experience. I have had the good fortune of putting on these seminars throughout the State for the past 6 years and the feedback has been very positive.  It is important to me that you walk away with a better understanding and appreciation of FHA.  Your positive participation will ensure that everyone gets the full benefit of the seminar(s).

Thanks, Andy!! It was a great seminar. While I have been on the HUD panel since 1985, once again I learned something new. We appreciate your hard work not to mention helping us save those hard-earned $$.
